Bad:I can't really think of what riffs i should keep that i make

any1 have any tips? i just bought a cheap cassette recorder that came with a mic and i'm prolly gunna b screwing around and recording guitar, n drums and vox. the mic it came with is pretty crappy(i'v gotts replace it asap) but its good enuff to pick up guitar fine(electric w/amp and acoustic) and it even gets my drums. so any1 have any tips? i'm itching to try some crazy crap but right now its like 10 @ nite so i cant play. first thing on the list tomorow is recording in the badthroom =)

Ok I have been at it on the guitar for about the past year, I have learned many riffs and a few songs that I can play all the way. Now I feel like Im at a dead end, I have only learned to play by tab, i dont know scales or chords. I really want to turn it up and take it to the next level so where do I go from here. Anyone else love his music? His music is amazing to listen to when high, I'm not gonna deny it, when SWIM is high it almost makes him cry it's so beautiful. Anyone own any of his albums? My favorite would have to be Continuum but Room for Squares is amazing too. His Pop stuff is good but I much prefer his blues oriented songs.

Anyone else here who likes bands such as Korpiklaani, Turisas, Ensiferum, Eluveitie, Svartsot etc etc ??

I have a bit of a big obsession with this sub-genre of Music at the moment; I really like how 'Musical' it is. The bands mentioned above use instruments and techniques that aren't that typical of the Metal or Rock genres.

I hope I'm not the only one :/
